AGRO SUMMIT 2024 – FOOD SOVEREIGNTY
Hotel Westin, Zagreb, October 16, 2024.
Food sovereignty was the theme of this year’s conference at the Westin Hotel. Poslovni Dnevnik brought together leading businesspeople and representatives of state institutions from the agriculture and related sectors to discuss the challenges facing Croatian agricultural production during times of significant global upheaval and change, globalization, and dependence on food imports, which often places local farmers at a disadvantage. Despite its rich natural resources, fertile soil, and long agricultural tradition, Croatia faces challenges such as a lack of young people in agriculture and low incentives.
The summit’s opening speeches were delivered by Tugomir Majdak, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and Vladimir Nišević, Editor-in-Chief of Poslovni Dnevnik. They also participated in the panel discussion Renaissance of Croatian Agriculture: Can We Do Better in Agriculture – How to Foster New Development and Empower Croatian Villages and Food Production. Can we preserve milk, meat, and overall livestock production and strongly promote the production of fruits, vegetables, and other products? How do leading companies see the future of Croatian agriculture, and how can they encourage stronger cooperation, connections, and investment in new production and technologies that can make us competitive in the EU and the world, thereby sparking a renaissance in agriculture?
One of the most interesting moments for many was the presentation by Viridisfarm-AS and their new revolutionary product for Sustainable Agriculture in the Context of Healthy Food Production. This was followed by a series of short interviews:
- The State of Commodity Markets Worldwide and Croatia’s Position
Robert Jurišić, Consultant - From Apples to Gold
Sanja Burić, CEO of Enna Fruit - New Investments, New Opportunities
Suzana Audić Vuletić, Director of Renaissance Capital (Premium Chicken Company) - Where Do Domestic Farmers’ Products End Up and How Do They Cooperate with Large Companies?
- Project: Digital Village Strizivojna
Vladimir Nišević, Editor-in-Chief of Poslovni Dnevnik.
